August Book Review:
Writing a book is no mean feat. Ask any author. Especially if you’re penning a book on how to manage your finances whilst leading a busy executive career making waves in the finance and banking industry.
Be.A.WiiiL Book of the Month
This month we thought to feature a local author. We speak to one of our very own Be.A.WiiiL network members Caroline Wambugu, whose book Heal Your Finances has been the bane of discussions amongst network members this August.
Who Is She?
A wife and mother to two beautiful daughters, Caroline Wambugu is a seasoned career accountant having served in the banking industry in different capacities over the last 19 years. She is currently making waves in the telecommunication sector.
No doubt her reputation in matters of money and finance precedes her. She describes herself as a financial catalyst and thought leader, who provides strategic leadership in the financial literacy field.
PS: Caroline is also a 2017 Top 40 under 40 finalist and is passionate about mentoring young people as her contribution to shaping the younger generation to unlock their full potential.
As part of her community service, she is an active member at Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM), a retired Deacon, and the former Church Treasurer from 2017 – 2021.
4 Questions We Asked The Author
Here are a few questions we asked Caroline on her journey to becoming an author.
-
So tell us, because we’re curious. Why did you write the book ‘Heal Your Finances’?
I wrote ‘Heal Your Finances’ because I want to educate, inspire, encourage and share time-tested nuggets with anyone interested in experiencing the full blessings of true wealth as God designed and intended it to be.
Secondly, I also wanted to demystify the world wave definition of wealth and success and help more people redefine what true gratifying success is, noting that money in itself is central in facilitating a lifestyle of choice.
Lastly, I wanted to demonstrate how our everyday money decisions and habits are connected to God’s kingdom principles.
2. Wow! Amazing. Did you face any challenges writing it?
Not really. The challenges were there but they were not insurmountable. It was largely an issue of time i.e. I would have loved to release my book sooner, but other commitments in my life for a while took center stage, and thus it took me longer to complete than I expected.
Other than that, the writing process for me went pretty smoothly. It was also a great opportunity to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone and make the release of my very first book a reality.
3. Is there ONE major takeaway you want readers to take from your book?
Yes. That financial breakthrough and freedom are a product of our everyday choices. That you can discover the design that God had for money, embrace it, and watch it transform your lives. That’s the real idea behind this book. To remind people that it’s never too late to start over on the right footing – the word of God.
4. We must add that spending the last couple of weeks poring over your book has been eye-opening. It’s made for an interesting addition to our list of very easy-to-read, practical ‘money’ books. Tell us, who is your primary target audience?
My book is for anyone who desires to take charge of their finances and enjoy a new, fulfilled, refreshed lifestyle aligned to God’s kingdom purpose.
At the core of it is to encourage readers to have an open mind and if they want to see a change or growth in their financial journey to also be ready to put in the work and be willing to invest in the new YOU.
